FULLERKREG Zinc Self-Drilling Drywall Anchors — Wallboard Anchors | For Pan Head Screws
FULLERKREG zinc self-drilling drywall anchors (also known as wallboard anchors) are engineered for fast, reliable fastening into gypsum wallboard (drywall), plasterboard, and similar panel substrates without the need for a pre-drilled pilot hole. The sharp, threaded tip drills directly through the drywall face as the anchor is driven in with a screwdriver, saving time and eliminating the risk of misaligned holes.
Once installed, a pan head machine screw is driven into the anchor, expanding the body behind the wallboard to create a secure, load-bearing connection — even where there is no stud behind the mounting point.
Key Features
-
Material: Zinc alloy — strong, corrosion-resistant, dimensionally consistent
-
Self-Drilling: Sharp threaded tip penetrates drywall without a pilot hole — install with a standard Phillips screwdriver
-
Compatible Fastener: Pan head machine screws (included or sold separately)
-
Substrate: Gypsum wallboard (drywall), plasterboard, wallboard panels
-
Expansion Mechanism: Body expands radially behind the wallboard as the pan head screw is tightened, locking the anchor in place
-
No Pre-Drill Required: Saves time and eliminates pilot hole alignment errors
-
Flush Installation: Anchor head sits flush with the wall surface for a clean finish
-
Reusable: Screw can be removed and re-driven; anchor remains in the wall
How FULLERKREG Self-Drilling Drywall Anchors Work
-
Position: Hold the anchor perpendicular to the drywall surface at the desired mounting location.
-
Drive: Using a Phillips screwdriver or drill (low torque), drive the anchor into the drywall. The self-drilling tip cuts through the gypsum and paper facing without a pilot hole.
-
Seat: Continue driving until the anchor flange is flush with the wall surface. Do not over-drive.
-
Install Screw: Pass the pan head machine screw through the fixture and into the anchor. Tighten until snug — the anchor body expands behind the wallboard.
-
Complete: The fixture is now securely mounted. Do not over-torque the screw.
Dimensional Specifications & Load Ratings

Compatible Pan Head Screw Specifications
FULLERKREG zinc self-drilling drywall anchors are designed for use with pan head machine screws. Key selection criteria:
- Drive type: Phillips (most common) or combination Phillips/slotted
- Head style: Pan head — provides broad bearing surface against the fixture
- Thread: Machine screw thread (coarse or fine) matching the anchor's internal thread
- Length: Screw length = fixture thickness + anchor engagement depth (minimum 3/4" / 19 mm engagement)
- Do not use wood screws or self-tapping screws — they will not engage the anchor threads correctly

Typical Applications
- Hanging picture frames, mirrors, and artwork on drywall
- Mounting shelving brackets, curtain rods, and towel bars
- Installing light fixtures, switch plates, and electrical accessories
- Securing cabinet hardware, hooks, and coat racks
- Attaching TV mounts, speaker brackets, and AV equipment (within rated load)
- General interior fastening where studs are not accessible
Installation Best Practices
-
Check for obstructions: Before installing, verify there are no electrical wires, plumbing pipes, or other utilities behind the drywall at the installation point.
-
Use low torque: Drive the anchor by hand or with a drill set to low torque. High-speed driving can strip the anchor head or crack the drywall.
-
Drive flush, not below: The anchor flange must be flush with the wall surface — countersinking weakens the holding capacity.
-
Do not over-torque the screw: Tighten until snug. Over-tightening pulls the anchor through the drywall.
-
Inspect the drywall: Do not install in damaged, wet, or crumbling drywall. The anchor requires intact gypsum and paper facing to develop full holding strength.
-
Weight distribution: For heavy loads, use multiple anchors and distribute the load across several mounting points.
-
Stud preferred for heavy loads: For loads exceeding the anchor rating, locate a stud and fasten directly into the framing.
