FULLERKREG Nylon Self-Drilling Drywall Anchors — Wallboard Anchors | For Pan Head Screws

FULLERKREG nylon self-drilling drywall anchors (also known as wallboard anchors) provide fast, clean, and reliable fastening into gypsum wallboard (drywall), plasterboard, and similar panel substrates — without the need for a pre-drilled pilot hole. The sharp, ribbed nylon body is driven directly through the drywall face using a standard Phillips screwdriver, then a pan head machine screw is driven in to expand the anchor body behind the board, locking it firmly in place.

Manufactured from high-strength nylon, FULLERKREG nylon drywall anchors are lightweight, completely corrosion-proof, and ideal for interior applications where moisture resistance and a clean aesthetic finish are priorities.

Key Features

  • Material: High-strength nylon — lightweight, corrosion-proof, suitable for humid interior environments
  • Self-Drilling: Sharp ribbed tip penetrates drywall without a pilot hole — install with a standard Phillips screwdriver
  • Compatible Fastener: Pan head machine screws (included or sold separately)
  • Substrate: Gypsum wallboard (drywall), plasterboard, wallboard panels
  • Expansion Mechanism: Nylon body expands and wings open behind the wallboard as the pan head screw is tightened, distributing load over a wide bearing area
  • No Pre-Drill Required: Saves time and eliminates pilot hole alignment errors
  • Flush Installation: Anchor flange sits flush with the wall surface for a clean, paintable finish
  • Non-Conductive: Nylon is electrically non-conductive — safe near wiring and electrical boxes
  • Reusable: Screw can be removed and re-driven; anchor remains in the wall

Nylon vs. Zinc: Choosing the Right Material

Property Nylon (This Product) Zinc Alloy
Corrosion Resistance ✅ Fully corrosion-proof ⚠️ Good in dry conditions
Electrical Conductivity ✅ Non-conductive ❌ Conductive
Weight ✅ Very lightweight ⚠️ Heavier
Load Capacity ⚠️ Light to medium duty ✅ Medium to heavy duty
Finish ✅ Paintable, clean white ⚠️ Metallic appearance
Best For Interior, humid areas, near wiring Higher load requirements

How FULLERKREG Nylon Self-Drilling Drywall Anchors Work

  1. Position: Hold the anchor perpendicular to the drywall surface at the desired mounting location. Check for hidden utilities behind the wall before proceeding.
  2. Drive: Using a Phillips screwdriver or drill set to low torque, drive the anchor into the drywall. The self-drilling tip cuts through the gypsum and paper facing without a pilot hole.
  3. Seat: Continue driving until the anchor flange is flush with the wall surface. Do not countersink or over-drive.
  4. Install Screw: Pass the pan head machine screw through the fixture and into the anchor. Tighten until snug — the nylon body expands and wings deploy behind the wallboard.
  5. Complete: The fixture is now securely mounted. Do not over-torque the screw as this can pull the anchor through the drywall.

Dimensional Specifications & Load Ratings

Load ratings are for standard 1/2" (12.7 mm) gypsum wallboard in good condition, installed per the instructions above. Actual performance depends on wallboard thickness, condition, and installation quality.

Anchor Size Screw Size (Pan Head) Anchor Length (mm) Anchor O.D. (mm) Max. Drywall Thickness (mm) Approx. Tensile Load (lbs / kg) Approx. Shear Load (lbs / kg)
#6 #6 × 1" Pan Head 28 8.0 12.7 30 / 14 40 / 18
#8 #8 × 1-1/4" Pan Head 32 9.5 15.9 50 / 23 60 / 27
#10 #10 × 1-1/2" Pan Head 37 11.0 15.9 65 / 29 80 / 36

Load values are indicative reference figures. For safety-critical or structural applications, consult a qualified engineer. Apply appropriate safety factors per local building codes. Do not use in crumbling, damaged, or wet drywall.

Compatible Pan Head Screw Specifications

FULLERKREG nylon self-drilling drywall anchors are designed for use with pan head machine screws. Key selection criteria:

  • Drive type: Phillips (most common) or combination Phillips/slotted
  • Head style: Pan head — provides broad bearing surface against the fixture
  • Thread: Machine screw thread (coarse) matching the anchor’s internal thread
  • Length: Screw length = fixture thickness + anchor engagement depth (minimum 3/4" / 19 mm engagement)
  • Do not use wood screws or self-tapping screws — they will not engage the anchor threads correctly and may cause the anchor to spin in the hole

Wallboard Thickness Compatibility

Wallboard Thickness Recommended Anchor Size Notes
3/8" (9.5 mm) #6 Light-duty only; verify anchor body clears the back face
1/2" (12.7 mm) #6, #8 Standard residential drywall — most common application
5/8" (15.9 mm) #8, #10 Type X fire-rated drywall; commercial construction

Typical Applications

  • Hanging picture frames, mirrors, and lightweight artwork on drywall
  • Mounting curtain rod brackets, towel bars, and bathroom accessories
  • Installing light switch plates, outlet covers, and electrical accessories (non-conductive advantage)
  • Securing hooks, coat racks, and small shelving brackets
  • Attaching cable management clips and wire guides to walls
  • General interior fastening in kitchens, bathrooms, and utility rooms where moisture is present
  • Any application where a clean, paintable, white anchor finish is desired

Installation Best Practices

  • Check for obstructions: Before installing, verify there are no electrical wires, plumbing pipes, or other utilities behind the drywall at the installation point.
  • Use low torque: Drive the anchor by hand or with a drill set to low torque. High-speed driving can melt or deform the nylon tip and crack the drywall facing.
  • Drive flush, not below: The anchor flange must be flush with the wall surface — countersinking weakens the holding capacity significantly.
  • Do not over-torque the screw: Tighten until snug. Over-tightening pulls the anchor through the drywall or strips the nylon threads.
  • Inspect the drywall: Do not install in damaged, wet, or crumbling drywall. The anchor requires intact gypsum and paper facing to develop full holding strength.
  • Weight distribution: For heavier loads, use multiple anchors and distribute the load across several mounting points.
  • Stud preferred for heavy loads: For loads exceeding the anchor rating, locate a stud and fasten directly into the framing.
  • Paintable: The nylon flange can be painted over after installation for a seamless wall finish.

Anchor Classification: Where Nylon Self-Drilling Anchors Fit

Anchor Type Substrate Pre-Drill Required Typical Load Range Best For

Zinc Self-Drilling Anchor Drywall / Wallboard No 40–125 lbs (18–57 kg) Higher load requirements, metal strength preferred
Plastic Expansion Anchor Drywall / Masonry Yes 10–50 lbs (5–23 kg) Very light loads, temporary fixtures
Toggle Bolt Drywall / Hollow wall Yes (large hole) 100–300 lbs (45–136 kg) Heavy loads, ceiling mounting
Lag Shield Anchor Concrete / Masonry Yes 500+ lbs (227+ kg) Structural fastening into solid masonry

Material: High-Strength Nylon

  • Injection-molded high-strength nylon — consistent dimensional accuracy and surface finish
  • Fully corrosion-proof — will not rust, oxidize, or stain walls in humid environments
