Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What is the difference between A2 and A4 stainless steel for wood screws?
A2 (SUS304) offers excellent corrosion resistance suitable for most indoor and outdoor applications in non-marine environments. A4 (SUS316) contains molybdenum for superior resistance to chloride corrosion, recommended for marine or highly corrosive environments. For standard outdoor construction, A2-70 provides an excellent balance of performance and cost.
Q2: Do DIN 571 hex head wood screws require pre-drilling?
Yes, pre-drilling is strongly recommended, especially for hardwoods. The pilot hole prevents wood splitting and ensures proper thread engagement. Refer to our pre-drilling table above for recommended hole sizes based on wood type and screw diameter.
Q3: What wrench size is needed for each diameter?
M5 uses WS8, M6 uses WS10, M8 uses WS13, M10 uses WS17, M12 uses WS19, and M16 uses WS24. All sizes use standard metric hex (AF) wrenches or sockets.
Q4: Are material test certificates (MTC) available?
Yes. EN 10204 3.1 material test certificates are available upon request for all orders. Please specify your requirement when placing your order.
Q5: Can FULLERKREG supply custom lengths not listed in the standard range?
Yes, custom lengths are available with a minimum order quantity of 500 pieces. Lead time is typically 15–25 business days. Please contact our sales team for custom specifications.
Q6: Is A2 stainless steel magnetic?
A2 stainless steel (SUS304) is generally non-magnetic in its annealed state. However, cold working during manufacturing (such as thread rolling) may induce slight magnetism. This does not affect the corrosion resistance or mechanical properties of the fastener.
